【短文】中间的乒乓球拍
The ball hits the net and drops on the floor. 'Oh no,' says Lin Tao.
球撞到网，掉在地上。“哎呀，”林涛说。
It is four thirty on Friday. Lin Tao and his friends are in the school ping-pong club. They play ping-pong together every day after class. There are six members in the club. Two are girls, and four are boys.
现在是星期五四点半。林涛和他的朋友们在学校乒乓球社团。他们每天下课后一起打乒乓球。社团有六名成员。两个是女孩，四个是男孩。
'Your bat is too old,' says Wang Mei. 'The rubber is different from mine. It is really slow.'

Lin Tao looks at his bat. It is old, yes. His grandfather gives it to him. His grandfather is a funny man. He has a handsome hat and a small fishing rod. Lin Tao loves his grandfather. They go hiking together at the weekend. They also play Chinese chess. His grandfather is his favourite grandparent.
林涛看着他的球拍。是的，它很旧。是他爷爷给他的。他爷爷是个有趣的人。他有一顶帅气的帽子和一根小鱼竿。林涛爱他的爷爷。他们周末一起去徒步。他们还下中国象棋。他爷爷是他最喜欢的祖辈。
'I can buy a new one,' says Lin Tao. 'I have lots of pocket money. I spend it on snacks every day.'
“我可以买一个新的，”林涛说。“我有很多零花钱。我每天都花在零食上。”
'Then why not?' says Wang Mei. 'A new bat can help you win.'
“那为什么不买呢？”王梅说。“新球拍能帮你赢。”
At night, Lin Tao sits in the middle of his bed. The old bat is next to his knee. He thinks about his grandfather. He thinks about the funny laugh. 'I can't put it away,' he says.
晚上，林涛坐在床中间。旧球拍在他膝盖旁边。他想起他的爷爷。他想起那有趣的笑声。“我不能把它收起来，”他说。
Next Monday, Lin Tao comes to the club with two bats. One is old. One is new.
下周一，林涛带着两个球拍来到社团。一个是旧的。一个是新的。
'This new one is for you, Wang Mei,' he says. 'You can play with it. But this old one is my bat. My grandfather's bat. We can play together with different bats. That is fun.'
“这个新的给你，王梅，”他说。“你可以用它打。但这个旧的是我的球拍。我爷爷的球拍。我们可以用不同的球拍一起打。那很有趣。”
Wang Mei laughs. 'OK. But I must win with your new bat!'
王梅笑了。“好吧。但我必须用你的新球拍赢！”
They play ping-pong. The old bat and the new bat hit the ball. The ball goes left and right. It is a good activity. Then the ball hits the net again. This time, Lin Tao laughs. It is a really funny sound.
他们打乒乓球。旧球拍和新球拍击球。球左右飞。这是一项好活动。然后球又撞到网。这次，林涛笑了。那声音真有趣。
