【短文】一班的新同学
The bell rings. A boy stands at the door of Class One. He holds a blue bag and a tennis ball.
铃响了。一个男孩站在一班门口。他拿着一个蓝书包和一个网球。
“Hey, I’m Li Wei,” says the class teacher. “This is our new classmate. His full name is Tom Green. Tom, this is your new class.”
“嘿，我是李老师，”班主任说。“这是我们的新同学。他的全名是汤姆·格林。汤姆，这是你的新班级。”
Tom looks at thirty faces. He is in Grade Seven now. It is a big school. “Hi, everyone,” he says. “My first name is Tom. My last name is Green. I would like to make friends with you.”
汤姆看着三十张脸。他现在上七年级。这是一所大学校。“大家好，”他说。“我的名字是汤姆。我姓格林。我想和你们交朋友。”
A girl with short hair smiles. “I’m Liu Fang. Welcome! Are you from the same country as us?” “No,” says Tom. “I’m from Canada. But we are in the same class now.”
一个短发的女孩笑了。“我是刘芳。欢迎！你和我们来自同一个国家吗？”“不是，”汤姆说。“我来自加拿大。但我们现在在同一个班。”
At lunch, Liu Fang sits with Tom. Her lunch box is full of hot pot and tofu. “Do you like Chinese food?” she asks. “Yes, a lot!” says Tom. “Mapo tofu is my favourite. And Beijing roast duck, too.” He opens his bag. “Look, I have a photo of the Great Wall. I would like to go there one day.” “Me too,” says Liu Fang.
午饭时，刘芳和汤姆坐在一起。她的饭盒里装满了火锅和豆腐。“你喜欢中国菜吗？”她问。“是的，非常喜欢！”汤姆说。“麻婆豆腐是我的最爱。还有北京烤鸭。”他打开书包。“看，我有一张长城的照片。我想有一天去那里。”“我也是，”刘芳说。
After school, Tom sees a poster. It says: Music Band. Play the guitar. Tuesday, Room 5. “Can you play the guitar?” Liu Fang asks. “No, I can’t,” says Tom. “But I can play tennis. Is there a tennis club?” “Yes! Look at page 8,” says Liu Fang. She takes out a small book. “There is a tennis club every Friday. And a parrot in our classroom. His name is Polly. He can say ‘Hello’!” Tom laughs. “Great,” he says. “I think I can make a lot of friends here.”
放学后，汤姆看到一张海报。上面写着：音乐社团。弹吉他。星期二，5号房间。“你会弹吉他吗？”刘芳问。“不，我不会，”汤姆说。“但我会打网球。有网球社团吗？”“有！看第8页，”刘芳说。她拿出一本小书。“每周五有网球社团。还有我们教室里有一只鹦鹉。他叫波利。他会说‘你好’！”汤姆笑了。“太好了，”他说。“我想我在这里能交到很多朋友。”
On Friday, Tom stands on the tennis court. Liu Fang is next to him. “Ready?” she asks. Tom looks at the ball in his hand. Then he looks at the classroom window. Polly the parrot is there. “Hello!” says Polly. Tom smiles and hits the ball.
星期五，汤姆站在网球场上。刘芳在他旁边。“准备好了吗？”她问。汤姆看着手里的球。然后他看向教室的窗户。鹦鹉波利在那里。“你好！”波利说。汤姆笑了，打出了球。
